An evening to remember

Tuesday, September 23rd, 2008

We’re excited Bear Dodgers today as we made it into London’s finest newspaper, The Evening Standard. The ‘photo shoot’ was two weeks ago and we thought they weren’t going to use but we got a surprise phone call this morning. Great stuff!

We also made it into the Metro Lite on page 2. The Metro is a free version handed out to commuters and there has been a steady stream of jokes this evening asking when we are going to become page 3 boys!

If you happen to see us training down at Hyde Park, please do come and say hello.

Social Tyre Hauling

Sunday, April 6th, 2008

If you’ve ever considered taking up tyre hauling as a hobby, then we can suggest you tackle Hyde Park.  It is fast becoming a social hot spot.

In our two laps yesterday we met no less that 25 people, had 4 photos taken, were in 2 videos, had 4 cars beep their horns and were handed coffee from Lucy at Ice Cream Van at Speakers corner.

We are dragging tyres round the horse track pretty regularly now - usually every Tuesday (although not the coming Tues) and every Saturday. So if you happen to be in Hyde Park, please do come and say hello.  We’ve also had a few friends express a desire to take our tyres for a spin - so if you feel the urge, just ask.

Looks like we missed a great training opportunity this morning - it snowing in London. Looks just lovely…

Tyre Hauling Begins

Wednesday, March 12th, 2008

If you’re in the UK, you’ll have probably noticed it has been a little windy this week. Down here in London we missed theCynan Rhodes tyre hauling best/worst of it - in fact, we were pretty disappointed not to get some really big weather. But we figured that this was a great time to start our tyre hauling training. This is exactly what it sounds like - rope up to a heavy tyre and drag it round. We’re walking round the horse track in Hyde Park just for added fun. Just the one huge tyre was enough for us on the first session but we’re aiming for a convoy of tyres when we’re super fit.

So Charlie and Cynan headed out of the RGS, who are kindly storing our tyres for us and skipped into Hyde Park, much to the amusement of those stuck in traffic. David is becoming good friends with his physio so passed on this session.

We did two laps of the horse track - 56 mins for the first and 54 mins for the second. The hamstrings certainly knew about it and we slept sooo well. It seems to use a few muscles we don’t normally use!
